Someday I'll write a piece about the rear suspension of the MR2 and why it has the reputation it does. Just not tonight.

I don't have wonderful video rendering capabilities so I'll pass on what I have to one of the other oppos to see if they can make something cool out of it.

Is that a good or bad reputation?

Racers and AutoX drivers prefer the 91-92 cars. The general public should likely drive the 93 or later (imports to the US ended in 93...)

It's not just the mid-engine design. Lots of cars are mid-engine, but not snapping death machines.

The trouble is the rear suspension would 'toe-out' under compression. Meaning if you dig deep into a corner, the weight of the car is pressing the outer wheel (the one with the most grip) to point away from the direction of travel. If you suddenly lift, the weight transfer (toward the front) will occur faster than the suspension will toe-in causing the snap oversteer. Same thing with a compressed suspension meets a mid-corner bump. The toe out suddenly become REALLY tow out.

Like I said, handy drivers who are expecting to drive at the limit in a controlled environment actually like the tail happy nature of the early car. Your art teacher driving to school on a frosty morning doesn't have the same level of appreciation.

I look very forward to that; there seems to be lots of people with little info.

Early S2000s do something quite like that too. The 'rear toe change with bump' was always dumb; I don't know what they did it again.

Even though its true, I had to throw that in to piss of midengineer.

I just got Sony Vegas reinstalled. Might see if I can do anything useful with it after not using it in ages.
